Why you should pray for your friends even when they don't ask for it.
This blog is turning into a blog about friendship, and I think I am here for it. Friendships are often overlooked and undervalued when speaking on relationships. Romantic relationships are placed on a much higher pedestal, but I have to let people know how DOPE true friendship can be.
I have some amazing women as friends in my life who inspire me on a daily. But I know they deal with some pretty hard things. Here are 3 reasons why I pray for my friends even when they don't ask for it.
1. Being Vulnerable is hard.
It is hard to be vulnerable and transparent with even your best friends. Some hardships people choose to share, whereas others they keep quiet. Just because you DON'T KNOW what your friends are dealing with doesn't mean everything is okay. Pray for their physical health, their mental health, their marriages, and everything else. You never know what someone is going through, and you may never know. But what I do know is...
2. There is power in prayer.
We all have a goal we want to reach, a challenge we want to overcome, or a situation we just want to get through. Pray for the success of your friends. Pray for their good days and pray for their bad. Prayer works. I've seen it happen. I've been on the receiving end of it, and I am more than appreciative.
3. A praying friend is a forever friend.
Let me tell you. I have some true gems as friends. Some praying friends. Friends that pray for my weaknesses and my strengths. Friends that are there when I fall short and pray that I am able to get back on track. We all need people on our side rooting for us. The best way to show your support is lifting your friends up in prayer.
Imagine waking up to this text from a friend that knew you were starting a new school year:
"Heavenly Father, thank You for all that You are doing in my sister, Jalisa's life right now. I pray that You would bestow Your wisdom to her as she enters a new year of teaching. I pray for unmerited favor with her students, parents & those working with her. Father, give her the confidence & peace she needs as she encounters various trials & successes this year. Remind her that You are with her no matter what comes her way. You have placed in her something no one else can take away. Let Your glorious light shine from within her. Let Your love calm any anxiousness & fear that tries to rise. This WILL be a great year of growth & cultivation for you, in Jesus's name, amen!!"
How in the world did I get so blessed?
